The role Social Media Plays in SEO (Search Engine Optimization)

Social Media and SEO

With the a new feature out called "Share This" you can now instantly share your thoughts with all of your social media bookmarks with one simple click. This has made it significantly easier to get your thoughts out into the virtual space of the Internet and into the homes of millions of people who may or may not be interested in what you are talking about.

In this instant gratification world we live in, everyone is wanting to get what they searched for and as fast as they can get it. All the while hoping that the major search engines like Google, Yahoo, and now Bing are getting it right. Meaning what I am searching for is what is popping up on my screen in the SERP'S. With SEO being a big part of the algorithm that major search engines define the best results for particular keywords, it is becoming more and more and more important that an SEO company is using Social Media to get their word out about their client as fast and as accurate as possible.

Trying to get back-links from these social media sites? Don't! I have tried several ways and all I can see that works is getting a link out to the site and hope your friends and theirs all click on it, with the hope that one or more of those people are actually looking for what you are promoting. No significance return on link-building through social media sites has become relevant to my clients search rankings.

If anyone has found a good way to receive quality link-building (not link-spam) by using social media I would appreciate any information you have been able to gather, along with any data you may have to support your claim.

Thank you for taking the time read and respond to this article and like always I hope it helps someone get higher rankings in the major search engines.

Google and How Personal Search will Affect SEO

Last Friday Google released the info of it's personal search criteria. We are told it will be an opt out not an opt in choice for consumers. Meaning, if you are logged in as a user or not the Google algorithm will compile a data base of up to 180 days of search info and then show each individual their own set of results based on the data collected from that particular computer.

Question, will this affect SEO services who essentially rely on a global search result. If I have spent many hours working on a site for a particular keyword, to get it to the top of Google's organic SERPS will all that work be for nothing.

Answer, Yes and No. The yes part is that one person who searches for apples may see different results then another who searches for the same keyword. However, and this is where the no comes in. If your site about apples is full of rich content that is all about apples and helpful to the client about apples then you shouldn't see much of a difference in your SERP rankings.

I believe Google has tried to weed out those spam sites that come up for particular keywords due to their "black hat" SEO techniques. Hopefully this is one more thing that will allow the consumer to see the most relevant websites for that particular keyword because of the content about that keyword on the particular website, along with the "White Hat" SEO techniques that I and several others use to promote their clients.

On Page or Off Page Optimization?

I have been getting some lessons in Search Engine Optimization and the latest one I need to share. The thought process and implementation of SEO work goes into two categories; On Page Optimization and Off Page Optimization. One is something you should do and the other is the one you HAVE to do if you want to rank higher in Google.

Lets first talk about On Page optimization. The on page optimization includes things like title, headings, keyword density, keyword placement, bold, italic, underline, alt. image tags, meta tags, etc... These are all things you should do to help your site rank higher.

Off Page optimization is the thing you HAVE to do to get your site to the first page of Google. Stating with the anchor text used in the link that links back to your website. This is a good one. Anytime you can get a link is good, but a link with your targeted keyword in the text that links back is better. Next, the page rank of the website your link is on is a big factor. This is why you want quality over quantity. One good PR of 5 or more is worth a lot more than 100 PR's of 1, the number of 100 is probably more like a 1,000 but I will be conservative. Then we have the title of the page your link is on and the age of that website and the list goes on and on. If I gave them all out I wouldn't be in business.

As you can see there are a lot of factors in getting your web site to the first page of Google. So when you see the SEO guy next time ask what his Off Page optimization practices are.

That's it for today, stay tuned for other secrets of Search Engine Optimization.

See you on the first page!

Organic VS Pay Per Click

Hello blogging world it is me again. I hope this article will help you in deciding how much to put into your advertising budget.

Organic Search engine optimization is particular to the free search section of Google. When you type something into the search bar a web page is displayed. On that page you will see most likely 3 different websites at the top of the page highlighted in yellow. These are sponsored ads. Those particular websites have paid a certain amount of money to be there. All the websites below those three are what they call the Organic search results(these are FREE). You might also see some off to the right hand side of the page, those too are sponsored ads.

My goal with this information is to allow you the client to understand where your money goes is important. If you choose to spend money on advertising you want to get a good return on investment.

In my research I have found that paying for an SEO firm who works on the Organic side of search engines will give you a better ROI. If a client is paying to be at the top, your budget will almost always go up every month. This happens simply because the competitive nature of being at the top, people think the only way to get there is to pay for it. This is true to an extent. I believe you can save almost half of the money you would spend on a PPC campaign and use it for SEO work. I believe I can get you the same or better traffic for less money by optimizing your site for the Organic search results.

On another note, a PPC campaign alongside an Organic search will not only double your traffic but triple it. Because someone can see your website more than once on the same page gives it credibility. Thus more people will click on your site then your competitor.

Next time you go to pay to be at the top, check with an SEO firm to see what they say it will cost to be at the top using Organic search techniques. Compare the two numbers and you will find more money in your pocket simply because you are spending less and getting more.

Not all SEO companies KNOW what they are doing!

Hello blogging world it is me again. I just came across an article I thought you would like to read.

Business Digest Internet Advancement told to refund clients

SEATTLE — The state attorney general said yesterday Redmond-based Internet Advancement must pay penalties for failing to get its customers top placement on major search engines.
Internet Advancement, which also goes by 4GreatBuys.com, must refund customers, pay $24,432 to the state for costs incurred and a civil penalty of $25,000.

The company had promised to get its customers ranked in the top 10 to 20 results on the search engines for $980 to $1,500 in set-up fees and monthly fees of $79.80 to $89.95.
The case involved "search engine optimization" services, which attempt to get businesses high placement in search-engine results.

"Internet Advancement misrepresented its success rate, promised more than it could deliver, then refused to provide refunds to customers who didn't get what they paid for," said Attorney General Christine Gregoire.

She said the Attorney General's Office, the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau received more than 100 complaints from customers around the country.

This is why at MCW we do not ever quote that we will be able to get you to a certain number in Google rankings. You must know, no-one can guarantee the top spot in Google. I can say I will improve your ranking and in doing so should get you more traffic. On another note, based on past history an SEO firm could possibly suggest that they will be able to move you to the first page, based on your Keywords. Long-tail keywords are easier to rank higher for than short. Keep this in mind when you choose an SEO firm.

I hope this information was helpful. Again, you can always help by sending this to a friend.

How Changing One thing can improve your rankings in Google

Hello there blogging world it is me again. I just wanted to make this post simple and to the point. On my first post you received a tip on SEO techniques, well here is your second:

Tip #2 for Getting ranked higher in Google

This one is simple, Just by changing one thing on your website you can boost your rankings more than 350 positions. As you go through your website see how many times your "trophy" keyword is used. Now check and see if that same keyword is in your title of your page. Here is where you will need to know a little bit about HTML Code and how to read and how to change it. The next step is to change your title of your page to include your trophy keyword and possible others you may want to target. However, too many words in the title are never a good thing. There are plenty of other places for those keywords.

Knowing these tips are great, but if implemented incorrectly you could actually damage your credibility with Google. This is why using a good SEO firm is critical. You can always visit MCW Software for some general information, but your best bet is to follow my blog and the updates it brings.

Also on my blog are links to information regarding SEO that I have found to be quality and trust worthy. Just remember if click to view a link, you remember to click back to me. Where are you ranked on Google?

Hello Blogging world, here is your new place for the most up-to-date SEO information. Here you will find tips and strategies on how to get your website ranked higher in the organic (FREE) search results on Google.

If you are spending any money on PPC (Pay Per Click) campaigns, I am here to tell you to stop. You are making Google very very rich, and what is your return on that investment? There is a better way!

With a good SEO/SEM firm you can save money and get a higher ROI. Put it this way, if you only took half of what you are spending on PPC and used it for SEO/SEM you could still see an improvement not only in traffic to your site but increase on Google rankings as well.

To show you how easy this can be I will tell you my story. I started in this business a little over 3 months ago. I came into a company who had outsourced it's SEO work and was not getting anywhere with them. They had done some work of the off-page optimization but again not much. When I took over the accounts they were supposedly working on each client, and were not ranking anywhere near the top 50 ads on Google organic searches for their keywords. If you know anything about SEO/SEM and Google rankings you know that unless you are on the first page practically no one sees you. Well, with a lot of studying and research I was able to learn the basics of SEO/SEM. I took my limited knowledge and started working on the clients website. I re-tooled one website completely from the ground up, only using their content. The other only needed some on page optimization and a few tweaks to placements of content.

I have since learned a lot more and used the latest techniques in SEO/SEM to get both of my clients to the first page of Google for their respective keywords. Go ahead and check out "affordable addiction treatment" and "teen wilderness camp" you will find Ascend Recovery and Ascent4Teens on the first page(these are not the only keywords they rank on the first page for). All this only took me a little over three months of work and research. However, like I said earlier, the outsource team did do a little before I got here.

Finally, I would like to say, stop wasting your money paying Google for ads, when you can spend half and achieve the same if not better results with SEO/SEM. Stay tuned for future blogs with tips and strategies on how I got two clients to the first page of Google in only 3 months. Any questions regarding this post or any other post on my blog you can send an email to Dustin@MCW-Internet-Marketing.com

See you on the first page!

Your first tip for SEO is: A highly optimized site can outrank sites that are less optimized but have a higher page rank. This is why your targeted Keywords are the most important part of any SEO work.
